Upon arrival in Lima, the capital of Peru, you’ll be greeted at the airport and transferred to your hotel. This first day is ideal for relaxing after your journey or, if you’re feeling energetic, exploring Miraflores, enjoying Peruvian cuisine, or strolling through the bohemian district of Barranco.

DAY 2: Tour of Modern and Colonial Lima

Description:

After breakfast, enjoy a panoramic city tour of Lima. We’ll begin with an exterior view of the Huaca Pucllana, then head to the Historic Center to visit Plaza San Martín, the Gran Hotel Bolívar, and the Main Square, surrounded by iconic colonial buildings. We'll visit the Convent of San Francisco, including the famous catacombs. Finally, we’ll explore Miraflores and Larcomar before returning to the hotel.

DAY 3: Flight to Cusco and acclimatization

Description:

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for a short flight to Cusco, the historic capital of the Inca Empire. Upon arrival, you’ll be taken to your hotel to settle in and begin acclimating to the 3,400 meters (11,150 ft) above sea level. The rest of the day is free to take it easy, try a coca tea, visit San Pedro Market, or explore the colonial city center.

DAY 4: Sacred Valley Tour + Train to Aguas Calientes

Description:

Today you’ll explore the magnificent Sacred Valley. Start with a visit to Pisac and its mountaintop ruins and colorful artisan market. Afterward, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before heading to Ollantaytambo to explore its massive Inca fortress and charming cobbled streets.

In the afternoon, take the Expedition train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes, the town at the base of Machu Picchu.

DAY 5: Machu Picchu Tour – Return to Cusco

• Guided tour of Machu Picchu

• Free time for exploration

• Train to Ollantaytambo and transfer to Cusco

 

Description:

After breakfast, take the bus up to the entrance of Machu Picchu for a 2 hour guided tour along one of the official circuits. After the tour, you’ll have a bit of free time to continue exploring or simply take in the views.

Then return by bus to Aguas Calientes for a buffet lunch. In the afternoon, take the train back to Ollantaytambo, followed by a bus transfer to your hotel in Cusco.

DAY 6: Cusco City Tour – Night in Cusco
