DAY 1: Arrival in Lima

Description:

Upon your arrival in Lima, the capital of Peru, you will be greeted at the airport and transferred to your hotel. This first day is perfect for relaxing after your journey, or, if you have the energy, heading out to explore the Miraflores district, enjoy Peruvian cuisine, or walk through the bohemian neighborhood of Barranco.

DAY 2: Flight Over the Nazca Lines

Summary:

  • Transfer from Lima to the Pisco airfield.

  • Flight over the enigmatic Nazca Lines.

  • Return by bus to Lima.

Description:

Early in the morning, you will travel by bus from Lima to the Pisco airfield. From there, you’ll board a small plane to enjoy a breathtaking flight over the Nazca Lines—one of the world’s greatest archaeological mysteries. From the sky, you’ll clearly see figures such as the hummingbird, monkey, condor, and many others etched into the vast Peruvian desert centuries ago.

After the flight, you’ll return to Lima by bus for an overnight stay in the capital.

DAY 3: Flight to Arequipa + City Tour

Summary:

  • Flight from Lima to Arequipa.

  • City tour: Main Square, Cathedral, Church of the Society of Jesus (exterior), visit to the Santa Catalina Monastery, and Yanahuara viewpoint.

Description:

You’ll fly to the “White City” of Arequipa, located at the foot of the Misti volcano. After checking into your hotel, you’ll enjoy a panoramic city tour that includes the city’s main highlights and a visit to the iconic Santa Catalina Monastery—a city within a city that offers a glimpse into colonial cloistered life. You’ll finish the tour at the traditional Yanahuara viewpoint, with privileged views of the city and surrounding volcanoes.

DAY 4: Journey to the Colca Canyon

Summary:

  • Transfer from Arequipa to Colca.

  • Stop at the Pampa Cañahuas National Reserve to observe vicuñas.

  • Scenic views from Patapampa (4,800 m / 15,748 ft).

 

Description:

Depart Arequipa en route to the charming town of Chivay, crossing stunning Andean landscapes. The journey takes you through Yura and the Pampa Cañahuas National Reserve—home to vicuñas, a native species prized for their fine wool. You’ll continue through the plains of Viscachani and Tocra, known for their birdlife, until reaching the highest point of the trip: Patapampa (4,800 m / 15,748 ft), where you’ll enjoy panoramic views of the volcanoes and mountain range. Finally, you’ll arrive in Chivay for lunch and transfer to your hotel.

DAY 5: Condor’s Flight & Journey to the Altiplano

Summary:

  • Visit to the Cruz del Condor to observe the majestic condor in flight.

  • Tour of traditional villages: Pinchollo, Maca, Achoma, and Yanque.

  • Bus journey to Puno crossing the Andean highlands.

Description:

Early in the morning, you’ll visit the famous Cruz del Condor—a natural viewpoint where you can witness the spectacular flight of condors over one of the world’s deepest canyons. You’ll then continue through the valley, stopping at viewpoints like Antahuilque and Choquetico and passing through charming Andean villages such as Pinchollo, Maca, Achoma, and Yanque.

After lunch in Chivay, you’ll begin your journey to Puno across the Andean highlands, with views of volcanoes like Misti, Chachani, and Ampato, as well as expansive plains inhabited by vicuñas and high-Andean birds.

In the afternoon, you’ll arrive in Puno, on the shores of the majestic Lake Titicaca.

DAY 6: Tour of Lake Titicaca

Summary:

  • Boat ride on Lake Titicaca, the world’s highest navigable lake.

  • Visit to the floating Uros Islands.

  • Exploration of Taquile Island and its textile traditions.

Description:

You’ll start the day with a guided excursion on Lake Titicaca (3,810 m / 12,500 ft), one of the most iconic destinations in the Peruvian highlands. Your first stop will be the Uros Floating Islands, handmade from totora reeds, where you’ll learn about the ancestral way of life of the Uros people.

Next, you’ll visit Taquile Island (4,040 m / 13,254 ft), famous for its stunning landscapes and textile traditions, which are recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage. In the afternoon, you’ll return to Puno to rest.

DAY 7: From Puno to Cusco via the Route of the Sun

Summary:

  • Scenic bus ride along the “Route of the Sun” from Puno to Cusco.

  • Cultural and archaeological stops along the way.

Description:

Today, you’ll travel the scenic and cultural Route of the Sun—an approximately 10-hour journey from Puno to Cusco. Along the way, you’ll make several guided stops to visit archaeological sites, museums, and colonial art treasures. Highlights include a visit to Andahuaylillas, known for its 17th-century baroque church dubbed the “Sistine Chapel of the Americas.” You’ll also explore pre-Incan ruins and enjoy stunning views of the Andes.

In the afternoon, you’ll arrive in Cusco and transfer to your hotel.

DAY 8: Sacred Valley of the Incas Tour + Train to Aguas Calientes

Today, you’ll explore the impressive Sacred Valley of the Incas. You’ll begin with a visit to Pisac, known for its archaeological site atop the mountain and its colorful artisan market. You’ll then head to Ollantaytambo to explore its monumental fortress and walk through original Inca stone streets.

In the afternoon, you’ll board the Expedition train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes—the gateway village to Machu Picchu.

🛏️ Overnight in Aguas Calientes

DAY 9: Machu Picchu – Return to Cusco

Summary:

  • Guided tour of Machu Picchu.

  • Free time to explore or take photos.

  • Train back to Ollantaytambo and transfer to Cusco.

Description:

After breakfast, you’ll take the bus up to the entrance of Machu Picchu, where you’ll enjoy a guided tour (approx. 2.5 hours) along one of the official visitor circuits. After the guided visit, you’ll have some free time to explore on your own or simply marvel at the majesty of the site.

Later, you’ll take the bus back down to Aguas Calientes and enjoy a delicious buffet lunch.

In the afternoon, you’ll return by train to Ollantaytambo and continue by bus to Cusco.

DAY 10: Flight to Lima – End of Journey

  • Transfer to the airport.

  • Return flight to Lima.

At the scheduled time, you’ll be transferred from your hotel in Cusco to the airport to catch your return flight to Lima. This marks the end of your unforgettable journey, filled with history, culture, and breathtaking landscapes.
