Great news for travelers dreaming of walking through the magical Inca citadel of Machu Picchu! As of August 1, 2025, the Ministry of Culture has simplified the way you can buy tickets in person. No more double queues or confusing pre-tickets, now it’s faster, clearer, and more convenient.

What’s New for In-Person Tickets
One ticket, one line
Before, you had to line up twice: first for a “pre-ticket” and then again to buy the real ticket. Now, you just show up once, pay, and walk away with your actual entrance ticket.
More ticket windows
The Machu Picchu Cultural Center in Machu Picchu Pueblo now has five service windows (up from two), including one for priority attention.
Easier ways to pay
Pay with cash, cards, QR codes, or Peruvian digital wallets like Yape and Plin.
Real-time updates
Ticket availability is shown on screens at the Cultural Center and online at tuboleto.cultura.pe, so you can check before making the trip.
Quick purchase with ID
All you need is your passport or national ID (DNI) to buy.
How It Works
Where: Cultural Center, Aguas Calientes
Daily quota: 1,000 in-person tickets (part of the total 5,600 high-season limit)
Tip: Arrive early, especially in high season, and check online availability first.
Online Tickets Still Available
Prefer to skip the line altogether? You can still book your spot in advance through tuboleto.cultura.pe, ideal for peak season or if you like to have everything confirmed before you travel.
Why Visit Now?
Machu Picchu is one of those places that stays with you forever. From the moment you step onto the stone paths and see the citadel surrounded by cloud-kissed mountains, you’ll understand why it’s one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. And now, getting there is just that little bit easier.
